Kids Karate Classes in Brooklyn
Children train in the same system, in the same room, as every student who has trained at this dojo. The pace is different; the standard is not.
Kids Karate Classes in Brooklyn: what a class looks like
- Focus and self-control before technique - the first thing a child learns here is how to stand still and listen
- Structured belt progression, so progress is visible and earned rather than handed out
- Small enough that instructors know every child by name
- Parents are welcome to watch any class
What parents tell us it changes

Ages and level
This class is for ages 6–12. No experience is assumed - here is what happens in your first hour.
Ages are a guide rather than a rule. Sensei Ferdman decides when a student is ready to move up, and teenagers of fourteen and over often train in the adult class.
We have taught U.S.A. Goju in the same room on 65th Street since 1972, and the standard has not moved.
